A Positively Nuclear Week in London: Highlights from the 32nd WiN Global Annual Conference

November 7, 2025

Under the theme “Positively Nuclear: Influencing Our Future,” the 32nd WiN Global Annual Conference in London became far more than a gathering of professionals—it was a celebration of community, purpose, and collective possibility.

Throughout the week, a powerful message resonated: the stars are aligning for a golden age of nuclear energy, and as a global network, we are only beginning to unlock its potential as a force for good.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our international guests, whose presence elevated the event, and especially to the Presidents of the WiN Chapters. Their participation highlighted the remarkable strength, diversity, and unity of the WiN Global network.

A defining moment of the event was the presentation of the WiN Global Changemaker of Distinction 2025 to Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This recognition was presented by Melina Belinco, WiN Global President, and Clare Sharpe, WiN UK President, on behalf of the entire WiN Global community. In her tribute, Melina Belinco emphasized DG Grossi’s commitment to meaningful leadership:

“Your example stands as a powerful reminder of what true allyship looks like – respectful, consistent, and transformative.”

His presence, alongside a keynote from Michael Shanks MP, UK Minister for Energy (DESNZ), made the first day of the conference especially memorable. Each day of the conference was thoughtfully guided by our exceptional facilitators: Hasna Al Blooshi, Jack Gritt, and Lisa McBride.

Participants were energized by a stellar lineup of speakers whose insights challenged, motivated, and empowered us to think boldly about the future of nuclear energy.

The WiN Global Awards Ceremony, led with distinction by Amal Elrefaei, shone a spotlight on outstanding women whose work is shaping the future of nuclear science and technology. This year, we proudly celebrated:

  • Elena MaceirasExcellence Award (WiN Argentina)
  • Amanda MbheleNuclear Future Award (WiN South Africa)
  • Anne-Marie BiracHonorary Award (WiN France)

Their achievements embody the spirit of WiN Global—excellence, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to progress.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and partners, whose support was fundamental to the success of this event.

A special acknowledgement is owed to the incredible team of WiN UK volunteers, led by Jack Gritt, whose tireless work made the London conference possible.

As the conference concluded, WiN UK proudly passed the WiN Global flag to WiN Korea, who will host the 33rd WiN Global Annual Conference in Gyeongju, 30 March – 3 April 2026.  We highly value the efforts of the WiN Korea team, and working so closely together gives us full confidence that we will deliver another truly inspiring global gathering.

A Special Message of Gratitude from our President Melina Belinco: “To our hosts, sponsors, partners and every participant, on behalf of WiN Global I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your dedication makes this community possible. Let us keep building it, positively nuclear and powerfully united.”
