WiN Global Champions Inclusion in IAEA Lise Meitner Programme Hosted for the First Time in Latin America

From May 5 to 16, 2025, Argentina—through the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA)—is making history as the first Latin American country to host the Lise Meitner Programme (LMP), a prestigious initiative of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) aimed at strengthening leadership and technical capacities of young women professionals in the nuclear field.

With 15 female engineers from 13 countries participating in two weeks of high-impact training and site visits in Bariloche and Buenos Aires, this edition of the LMP marks a significant step toward building a more inclusive and diverse global nuclear workforce.

On the opening day, Melina Belinco, President of Women in Nuclear (WiN) Global and host event coordinator, joined representatives from the IAEA and national authorities from CNEA and Balseiro Institute to welcome participants and officially kick off the initiative. This moment marked the beginning of a journey designed to empower the next generation of women leaders in nuclear science and technology.

Throughout the two-week Lise Meitner Programme, WiN Global and its local chapter, WiN Argentina, are playing a key role in delivering expert knowledge, orientation, and support. Distinguished leaders—including Aline des Cloizeaux, Eve-Lyne Pelletier, Verónica Garea, Graciela Bertolino, Delfina Di Lorenzo, Lourdes Torres, and Melina Belinco—are guiding participants through leadership modules, technical sessions, and site visits, providing hands-on insights and inspiration.

However, the role of WiN goes beyond training. With a clear commitment to building meaningful connections, WiN Global and WiN Argentina have been actively involved in  networking spaces designed to spark collaboration and forge lasting professional bonds across cultures and continents.

To strengthen the sense of belonging and unity, each participant received a symbolic WiN Global souvenir—a small gesture with big meaning, representing their place in a vibrant, international network of women advancing nuclear science and technology.

And because real impact does not end when the programme does, WiN Global offers ongoing support through its free mentoring platform, ensuring participants stay connected, inspired, and supported as they continue their careers.

With deep expertise, global reach, and unwavering commitment to inclusion, WiN Global is proud to help make this edition of the LMP a turning point for women in nuclear.
