WiN Global and WINS Sign a MoU to Strengthen Collaboration on Gender Equality and Nuclear Security

During the 32nd Annual WiN Global Conference, held in London on 13 July 2025, WiN Global and the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) formalised their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting gender equality and advancing professional development within the nuclear security sector.

This agreement establishes a collaborative framework to support inclusive participation and strengthen technical capacities across key areas, including cybersecurity, transport security, and emergency preparedness. The MoU outlines four principal areas of cooperation:

  • Promotion of gender equality and women’s leadership,
  • Professional development and mentoring,
  • Inclusion in underrepresented technical domains and
  • Knowledge exchange and outreach initiatives.

 

By leveraging their respective strengths, WiN Global and WINS will implement joint initiatives such as technical training, mentorship programmes, expert exchanges, and co-authored resources that contribute to a more diverse and representative nuclear workforce.

The MoU was signed by Melina Belinco, President of WiN Global, and Viviana Espinosa Moreno, Senior Project Manager at WINS, on behalf of Executive Director Lars van Dassen.

Promoting Gender Equality in Latin America: WiN ARCAL Regional Chapter and WINS Join Forces

In addition, a strategic cooperation framework was also signed between WiN ARCAL and WINS, with the aim of strengthening technical capacities and promoting gender equity in the field of nuclear security in Latin America and the Caribbean. This collaboration seeks to incorporate an inclusive approach to the peaceful uses of nuclear technologies through joint actions focused on the empowerment of women, expanding the visibility of women experts from the region, professional development, and the development of technical knowledge.

The MoU was signed by Ángela Abadía Zapata, President of WiN ARCAL, reinforcing the shared commitment to regional cooperation and inclusion in nuclear security.

This initiative is part of a strategic approach promoted by WiN Global, whose main goal is to consider the particularities of each region and to implement mechanisms to address their priority needs.
