WiN Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals

Radiopharmaceutical sciences sit at the intersection of chemistry, physics, pharmacy, medicine, regulation, and industry, a multidisciplinary strength that also creates structural barriers to progression. From the production of radioisotopes to their clinical application in diagnosis and therapy, the field spans a wide and complex value chain that is growing rapidly, driven by the global expansion of nuclear medicine, theranostics, and targeted radionuclide therapy for cancer.

Despite the breadth of opportunity, women in this field remain concentrated in execution-focused roles — in production, quality control, and teaching — while strategic leadership and decision-making positions continue to be disproportionately male. The field does not lack talented women; it lacks effective mechanisms to retain, promote, and advance them as careers evolve from academic training into leadership positions.

WiNRIR was established to address this gap by building a global, multidisciplinary community of women across academia, industry, clinical practice, and regulatory affairs, connecting professionals at every stage of their career and across the full chain.

Mission

Women in Nuclear Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticalsis Initiative is committed to empowering women across radioisotope production, radiochemistry, and radiopharmaceutical sciences to achieve success on their own terms. We strive to create opportunities for female scientists, engineers, and professionals to connect, support one another, and grow as leaders in their field.

Role of WiN Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals Partners

The World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI), founded in 1998, is a non-governmental organisation representing the collective interests of the nuclear transport industry. Reflecting WNTI’s strategic commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and developing the next generation of nuclear transport professionals. As a key partner, WNTI provides the platform, visibility, and support needed to advance WiN Transport’s mission and activities.

Why WiN Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals?

The network was initiated as a response to the underrepresentation of female scientists as managers, especially in higher decision-making roles in the multidisciplinary field of radiopharmaceutical sciences. We provide networking opportunities and support, celebrate the growth and success of all members. We believe in paying forward, forward thinking and inspiring change. Join our environment that helps the growth of your personal and professional career. Sign up here for the mailing list.

Objectives

  • Empower and connect women through mentorship, networking, and professional development.

  • Increase the visibility and representation of women in strategic and decision-making roles across academia, industry, clinical practice, and regulation.

  • Promote knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration through events, webinars, and conference activities.

  • Foster international collaboration between academia, healthcare, industry, and
    regulatory authorities.
