Since 2021, WiN Global has actively contributed to the NEA’s efforts as a leading member of the Task Group on Improving the Gender Balance in the Nuclear Sector, and currently through an active involvement in the High-Level Group on Improving the Gender Balance in the Nuclear Sector (HLG-GB). Throughout these years, WiN Global has helped lead working groups, support strategic discussions, and contribute to multiple communication and engagement initiatives designed to strengthen the nuclear workforce.
One of the most significant milestones of this collaboration was the development of the first global report on Gender Balance in the Nuclear Sector — a landmark publication that now serves as a critical international reference for measuring progress, identifying gaps, and supporting strategic decision-making based on evidence. More than 60 WiN Global chapters around the world actively mobilized professionals and institutions to participate in this historic initiative, reinforcing the importance of reliable international data for shaping the future of the sector.
Today, WiN Global is pleased to support the NEA’s new Survey on Gender Balance in the Nuclear Sector, a key initiative aimed at collecting updated global data on women’s participation and representation throughout the nuclear workforce. This survey seeks to identify where meaningful progress has been achieved and where barriers continue to persist, helping governments, organizations, and industry leaders design more effective and inclusive policies.
Why This Matters
The nuclear sector faces an unprecedented demand for talent to meet climate goals, energy security needs, and the growing global demand for clean energy solutions. Building a sustainable workforce requires attracting, retaining, and promoting talent from all backgrounds. Understanding the realities faced by women across science, technology, operations, regulation, and leadership roles is essential to ensuring the long-term strength and resilience of the industry.
Reliable international data is the foundation of meaningful action. The collaboration between WiN Global and the NEA demonstrates how international organizations, industry leaders, and professionals can work together to drive transformative change across the global nuclear community.
